Imelda’s Shoe Boutique

Imeldas Shoe Boutique

Imelda’s, named after the infamous Imelda Marcos whose shoe collection exceeded 2700 pairs, has been a staple on the Norwich fashion scene for many years and it’s easy to see why! With the beautifully decorated store and the wide range of highly-desirable shoes, Imelda’s is a real gem in the Norwich crown!

Recently, the shop moved a few doors up on Guildhall Hill into larger premises, we chatted to Imelda’s owner Irene about the business.

Where did it all start?

Imelda’s opened 18 years ago. I had studied and worked in fashion in London and when I returned there were no good shoe-shops. Catfish, Bizarre and Blue Jean had just opened providing new exciting clothes but no footwear, so I opened Imeldas in Pottergate.

What brands do you stock?

We stock Shellys, Miss L Fire, Irregular Choice, Melissa, Ugg, United Nude and Vagabond to name a few!

What’s your top tip for the new season?

Colour is my top tip with such an awful start to Spring, wear a colourful pair of shoes to brighten your day!

Favourite shop in the Norwich Lanes?

My favourite shop in the lanes would have to be Thorns, the hardware shop. These sorts of shop don’t exist anywhere anymore. If you can’t find some thing, I guarantee they will have it.

Favourite place to go out in the Norwich Lanes?

Favourite place to go out would be Bicycle Shop, love the place! Best coffee would be in what was my old shop, Ground on Guildhall Hill.

Anything exciting coming up for Imelda’s?

Imeldas will be doing something in the back room and will be stocking a few pieces of the Irregular Choice clothing, as well as a few new exciting brands. We’ll keep you posted on progress.
